Radio Functions & Weapon Maintenance – Training of the Week 3/11/16

  1. Safely field strip your weapon 5 times
  2. Review the information on operating your Baofeng radio (see below). Using this information, set your radio to:
  3. Participate in the Thursday night Oath Keepers net
    1. Thursday night 3/17 at 8 pm on the St. Charles repeater
    2. Repeater frequency is: 145.330
    3. If you do not yet have your HAM license, you can still listen in.

NOTE: At the 3/12 training, Militia members were introduced to the J-Pole antenna and throat mic. You will find these and other equipment links over at our Individual Radio Equipment List post.

  1. I participated in the hamnet, I was very pleased that I could connect using my baofeng from Fenton/HighRidge to the St Charles repeater. I used the Slim Jim antenna on the equipment list. I was told I was transmitting pretty good. I bought a car antenna too but it was really cheap. It works but I would like some recommendations on a good one or feedback on the one I purchased.

  2. I heard you Kevin. I was on with 50 watts and a ladder j pole inside the house. No simplex contacts with that setup. I need to get an exterior antenna. You sounded very clear, great job.
