Level 1 Equipment

Note: This list is for militia members only, and is not required to attend training sessions.

Members are expected to acquire equipment within a year of joining.  List below is  guideline to follow. Substitutions can be made. Discuss with your team lead.

1 set (trousers and jacket) of woodland pattern BDU’s

1 pistol belt

1 “Y” or “H” type suspenders, also known as LBV or LBE

2 magazine pouches

2 canteens, carrier, cup, and stove

1 fuel tabs or can of fuel for stove

1 butt pack

1 battle rifle or carbine (AR, AK, or FN recommended)

200 rounds of ammo in magazines or on stripper clips.  Recommend standard calibers .223, .308, or 7.62

1 cleaning kit for rifle

1 personal first aid kit

1 poncho

1 poncho liner

1 sheath knife or bayonet

1 pk of waterproof matches

1 pair of extra socks (wool, OD green or black) pre-powdered and sealed in a plastic zipper bag

1 half roll of toilet paper sealed in a plastic zipper bag

1 hygiene kit: odorless soap, toothpaste, razor etc.

1 radio frs/gmrs or ham radio if licensed. (Check with unit RTO before purchasing)

2-25′ lengths 550 parachute cord

3 days field rations (MRE’s or rice, noodles, granola bars etc – between 4-6000 calories.)

1 angle neck flashlight w/ red or blue filter

1 camouflage face paint (green, black, loam)

1 magnesium fire starter w/ flint

1 pair of leather gloves w/ liner

1 pair of boots (tan, black, green)

1 each woodland pattern patrol cap and “boonie” hat
